The 4 T’s for Growth & Accountability
1. Thankful
What do you have in your life that you are truly thankful for? Today, now. Most of will naturally respond with the common things we are thankful for such as, family, friends, home, work, or that Jesus saved you 20 years ago. Yes, those are things to be thankful for, and we should, but I want you to think about your thankfulness for this day. It might be an answer to prayer you have been waiting on, or a child who has turned a corner in his/her life with choices and decisions. You might even be thankful for the new job you just landed. Take a moment and express your thankfulness to God for the blessings of this day.
“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18
2. Trial
What kind of trials are you currently experiencing? Do you have financial troubles? Are there wounded or broken relationships that need to be healed? Maybe you have a loved one who is enduring a long sickness and you are bearing the burden of caring for them. Reflect on the trials you are going through this day and name them, then carry those trials to the Lord. Share your burdens with your accountability partner so they can travel the journey with you.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of manykinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perserverance. Let perserverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
James 1:2-4
3. Temptation
What temptation(s) are struggling with today? Do you feel a tug or pull towards something that you know is against God’s Word? Is there a temptation that is trying to jump on you on pull you down? Are you battling sexual sin? Poor financial choices? Or are you feeling discourged, depressed, or disillusioned with your life right now? Face the giants that are crouching at your door attempting to get you off-track. Come into the light, be honest with your accountability partner, give your temptations to Jesus, and stand firm in your faith.
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Matthew 26:41
4. Teaching
What is the Holy Spirit teaching you today? What fresh manna is the Lord showing you in your life? Each day, we have opportunities to listen to the Holy Spirit guiding and instructing us according to the way we should think, act, behave, and live. Sit back and contemplate on the message you receive from God’s Word in your quiet time with the Lord. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to learn today. Engage with your Father in Heaven in your prayer time and allow Him to teach you according to His purpose for your life.
“Let my teaching fall like rain and my words like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.”
Deuteronomy 32:2
